We applied for an American Express Delta card @9% and interest rate would never increase. Then they increased it to 12% even though we weren't late on any payment. Now they have increased it to 27.99% interest because we were 2 days late on one payment. We have written laters, spoken to countless customer service people and each time we call, the customer service person doesn't have any idea about what the other person said. We were told that if we paid $690 per month for the next 6 months, our interest rate would drop to 9.5%. We are in debt to them for $27,000 and they are constant assessing late fees, along with the 27.99% interest rate. Even at $690 per month we are getting no where. Absolutely nothing is being applied to principal. Please help us get control of this situtation. None of the customer service people know why they increased our rate, only saying they have a right to.

Well when I picture financial freedom, Its not about sitting at a beach either...but more of what I want to do with life. Not having to get up to work for some one else. It takes time to built a true financial freedom.

I have lost my job two weeks ago and will begin getting unemployment. I am looking very hard for a job, I have 35 years in the printing industry. My wife and I have gotten ourselves in quit a bit of debt. We were considering something like this even before I lost my job. I am close to $20,000.00 dollars in credit card debt. Just wondering what my options are. I heard about you all listenig to Clark Howard.
