There are three basic steps to financial freedom that can get you started on the right path toward being debt free and having the money you need without having to work all the time. Consider these three ways to successfully begin your journey toward becoming financially free:

  1. Set goals for yourself. Having a dream is really important because you will strive to make it a reality. Write down your goals and how you intend to achieve them. Compile a list of necessities and create a budget. When you consider the things you need be realistic – is that designer purse or high tech gadget really necessary? Overspending and overextending your credit are obstacles toward attaining financial freedom. Periodically review your written goals to make sure you are staying on track.
  1. Have positive behaviors that support your financial freedom goals. Brown bag your lunches, bike to the store instead of driving, clip coupons – do things to boost your ability to save money and become financially free now.
  1. Remain abreast of your plans, progress and always remind yourself why you are working so hard toward them. Sometimes it takes longer than you think to achieve your goals but remain positive and look at the progress you make. Remind yourself that you are working so hard now to have the financial freedom you want later.

By following these three steps to financial freedom, you will be well on your way to having better control over your money so it works for you.
