Many banks offer free financial services to their clients to help them understand the relevancy of resolving debts and attaining financial independence through loans, consolidating debt, savings and investments that generate passive income. According to Steve Franke, program manager for Pennsylvania State Employee Credit Union Financial Services, “A lot of people aren’t aware their credit union offers these type of services.”
Tim Decker, a financial planner and host of weekly radio show, “Financial Freedom”, warns about banks, “You need to be able to separate pure advice from products. The only thing you get for free is nothing.” While in some instances this may be true, many banks not only have financial advisors available to speak to customers and offer available products, they hold free, no-obligation informational seminars. These seminars offer great preliminary information about managing money and your options for financial freedom.
Chris Rockey, vice president of community development banking at PNC Bank, stays the bank has spent millions of dollars offering free financial counseling to the general public by offering various seminars. Attendees are not required to be bank customers. Because of ever decreasing savings and the growing number of foreclosures, banks are offering valuable advice for free to try to help a struggling economy. Rockey says that, “We’re in a crisis in this country, and it revolves around debt. The issues we’re trying to raise are systemic.”
