Is financial freedom just one of those generational buzzwords? Actually, financial freedom is the goal of millions of people and many folks have attained financial independence already.
So what exactly is financial freedom and how do you define it? Financial freedom means different things to different people, depending upon their personal circumstances. Basically speaking, financial freedom is an attitude, a feeling that goes on inside you. It’s not about an amount of money but rather what money means to you.
In other words, its not completely about having more money. Financial freedom is about knowing how to maximize and enjoy the money you have. A person with relatively little money may feel financially free because they have no debt and their desires are minimal. On the other hand, there are wealthy people that always desire more and never really achieve true financial independence because they are continually going beyond their means.
Consider the words of a famous billionaire, David Geffen, who believed that, “Anyone who says that money will buy them happiness has never had any money.”
The first step toward financial freedom is to get out of debt. Live within your means rather than maxing out your credit to look good. Rather than buying now and struggling to repay it later, save now and buy what you want later – on the interest!
By living within a budget, you will eventually be able to loosen up and enjoy life more. Financial freedom is just a few common sense decisions away.
